Bousquet Sport is thrilled to announce the addition of JP Barbeau to our tennis department. Most recently, JP comes to us from a private tennis practice in the Berkshires. His experience in all aspects of tennis, including both junior and adult development, make him qualified to help everyone’s game.
With a resume which includes being a former ranked tour player, an NCAA head coach, and Tennis director or head professional positions for James Evert, Larry Gottfried, Dennis VanderMeer, and Bob Ingersol, has a tennis knowledge not previously seen here at Bousquet Sport. He has served as coach to WTA and ATP players such as Jennifer Capriati and Justin Gimblestob, been hired as hitting partners for Mats Wilander and Ivan Lendl and been invited to teach for the legendary Ion Tiriac. He has spoken and been hired for instruction by the NCAA tennis coaches association, the USTA’s development committee and several others. He has been a member of the Head advisory staff for as long as he cares to remember and will be bringing that product expertise with him. His passion for tennis is event both on and off the court and JP is available for adult and junior lessons as well as clinics and team coaching.
Richard grew up in a mountain town in New York playing #1 singles and #1 doubles for Stamford Central School. His coaching began in 1992 as an intern with the USTA in Mi-ami then as the Volunteer Assistant for the Big Ten Champion Indiana University Women’s Tennis team where he earned a Masters Degree in Exercise Physiology. In 1999 he was the Head Coach of the Hudson Valley Community College Women’s tennis team that won a NJCAA Division 3 National Championship in Doubles.
By 2008 Richard earned his USPTA tennis professional certificate. That same year Richard was hired to be the Head Coach of Varsity Tennis at Miss Hall’s School. Every spring the team is open to any girl that has the interest and enthusiasm to learn the great game of tennis. Rich has been on staff as an Exercise Physiologist and Tennis Professional at Canyon Ranch in Lenox for 20 years. He has also taught tennis in the summers for the Lee CTA and the Country Club of Pittsfield.
Richard enjoys working with players of all levels and ages with a specific interest on the metrics of tennis. Rich lives with his wife and two daughters in Pittsfield.
Wilson is a former #1 singles/double player and champion NCAA D3. A Certified PTR professional instructor and Youth Program director for the Lee CTA.
With 10 years teaching experience he is actively involved in local tennis community. Wilson stresses core/foundational instruction for all ages and abilities.
Olivia has been a tennis instructor for 5 years across different facilities. She played Division II tennis at Stonehill College in Easton, MA from 2012-2014 and was part of the 2012 NE-10 Tournament Champions team. She enjoys working with children,
juniors, and adults of all abilities to develop and sharpen techniques and match strategies. Outside of teaching she enjoys playing competitive tennis with her 7.5 and 8.0 USTA mixed doubles teams and will complete an MFA in Graphic Design in
October 2021 at the Vermont College of Fine Arts.
